Reviews:

Tourist Trophy

Motorcycle racing game from the makers of Gran turismo. Just like you remember Grant Turismo includes both Arcade and Tourist Trophy mode. Starts with license testing that can truely aggrivate until you pass them. New bike aren’t bought in this game you must pass challenges to obtain new ones. A super accurate game. Giving you customize control over the paint job of the bike and the gear of the riders, the set up of the machine is top notch. There is almost too many setting to adjust, just like GT.

EA’s Rugby ’06 (PS2)

To begin with I should say that I don’t know anything about rugby and thought that playing this would be a great way to learn. I was wrong. That’s not to say that this is a horrible sports title. Graphicaly it stands up to any of the multi-person-on-field games out there (football, hockey, soccer). Audio wise the commentary is beleivable, except in the tutorial where it was laughable. The music was the usual liscensed fair. The actual hits sound pretty lame for a rugby game. My biggest problem with this game was the on and off again controls. Maybe if I knew more about rugby the fact that I can’t control the huddles either defensivly or offensivly wouldn’t bother me. Unfortunatly I’m not and it does.

NSMB

New Super Mario Bros. – This game brings back something that I found lacking in most PSP games… FUN. The first time I got “Mega Mario” I replayed that stage 10 times just because it was so cool. The game is a combination of best parts of previous super mario games. Being on the DS it has a multi-player with up to 4 players. The touch screen has some use. any stand by items are stored there waiting for use. When in a pipe the screen goes to the bottom. This game is a great reason just to buy a DS.

Star Wars Lego II – The Original Trilogy (XB360)
I love this game. Graphically it’s the same game as the last one. For me that’s great. Nothing needs to be changed. It’s really the same game except it’s the other 3 movies. Improvements include a non-jedi ability to build things, breaking the force into light vs. dark side powers, in level vehicles, and overall just a tonne more to collect and play with. I haven’t played around with the character builder, but it didn’t seem all that interesting to me. The only draw back I’ve seen is that the camera angles are a bit too tight now which makes 2 player a bit tricky. Buy this game!

Download of the Week

Just Cause

This is the highly anticipated free roaming 3-rd person shooter. Graphically it’s beautiful, the action is a bit loose but it’s fun overall. It doesn’t break a tonne of new ground. It’s pretty much a clone of San Andreas, but it’s the first one of the many of these that I’ve even remotly wanted to play since. The download is about 600mb and there are 4 main objectives. You get to play with cars, helicopters, I’m assuming boats, and the most important part the parachute that everyone is raving about. Download it.

Reviews:

Castlevania – Symphony of the night – The classic PS1 title, coming soon to xbox live arcade. Awsome 2D action game. This is one of the BEST 2D platformers. I have had this game since it made greatest hits and have yet to complete fully. (100%). You will play through the castle twice in this game, once in a normal manner the second upside down. This should be huge on XLA.

Shining Force NEO – Decent RPG

Astonishia Story – Odd little RPG for the PSP. 2D cartoon look the reminds me of the SNES days. This has more colours then the Super Nintendo was capable of but no much better. There are some very odd little cut scenes revolving around piracy. Odd to say this but there are many better RPG’s for the PSP. The battle system is tacticle style.
FF I & II: Dawn of Souls – Pretty remake of the originals, nice portable game.
